Today there are a wide range of CD players available to the consumer, and selecting the correct CD player can feel like a difficult task. Style, quality, design and technical solutions are large differences between the various actors. Some players are portable, others are included in larger audio systems. Some players can handle only one disk at the time, others can easily save between 50 or more disks. Some CD players are veryeconomic, others are very expensive. The list could go on forever. No matter which CD you choose, instead, will consist of three basic parts that exist in all CD players current age: an engine, a tracking device and a laser and a lens system. Another thing is that all CD players have in common is that they interpret the data stored in the form of elongated bumps on a CD (compact disc).
The ride in your car CD playeris the part that ensures that the disk around a turn and pace. The motor unit gradually adjust the speed, because the rhythm correct depends on which side of the disk that is interpreted. In some places, the rate is not greater than 200 rpm, while in other places should be increased to 500 rpm. If the disc is turned over on the highway running track mechanism to adjust the laser assembly and allows the laser and the lenssystem to focus on small bumps that stores the data. Laser is continuously pushed from the center and beyond the disk of the mechanism of the track.
The data are interpreted by the laser and the lens system is stored in the form of elongated bumps on the surface of the CD. Gobba one is very small and not greater than 0.5 microns. The height is greater than 125 nanometers and lengths are 0.83 microns or so. All of these pieces is very intelligent organized on the surface of the CD in the form of a 5 km (3.5 miles) long spiral.
The CD is built through the various layers including a layer of polycarbonate and a layer of aluminum. When the laser trying to read the data stored on CD, will only penetrate the layer of polycarbonate. The aluminum layer that reflects the laser beam and the changes will be announced at a special opto-electronic mechanism can not be detected> CD player. Since the mines, where data is stored, it reflects light differently in relation to the areas between the holes (often referred to as "countries") is that the CD player to determine exactly which parts of the CD made of shock and what parts do not.
If a CD is scratched or damaged in any other way, it might be impossible for the CD player to interpret it. Sometimes only a small portion of data will be skipped, but largerCompensation can do all the CD is useless. Always keep the CD 's in a foreclosure, in order to reduce the risk of scratches. When you clean the CD, gently by hand from the center toward the rim instead of rubbing to move. Scratches resulting from a radial motion tends to be less corrupt than other scratches.

| I bought this a few weeks ago. I really have no complaints. The volume is plenty loud. I like the remote. And the screen is huge! It does have two "dead" pixels on the screen though. Little white dots. They are on the very left side, and not in the main viewing screen, so I don't notice it. Still, I could have gotten unlucky and they could have been in the center. I think it is well worth the price overall though, and if this lasts longer than a year the way I use it, then I would have paid more. I use it every night, and fall asleep with it on. I don' travel with it, so I can't say for sure how long the battery life really is. |

After looking at several different brands of portable DVD players, I thought I'd take a chance with a not-so-famous brand like Coby. We've now owned it for about 4 months and put well over 100 hours of usage and still no signs of breakage or repairs. We even connected it to our flat-screen TV for some time while we were still unpacking. Not HD quality, but definitely versatile.
Pros:
* Price is very affordable, especially considering the 10.2" screen.
* Picture resolution is impressive for the size, (perfect quality can't be expected with these!). You can still see the picture well even in bright settings.
* Sound volume is good, not tinny or low.
* Easy for kids to use.
* Accessories included. Saves the headache of shopping for them later.
Cons:
* You can't control the volume using the remote.
* The battery doesn't hold charge for more than one movie.
* You have to restart the movie if you turn it off.
* Headrest harness is kind of a pain to use if you have to constantly change DVDs.
* The plastic casing does feel a little cheap, but it has endured the wear and tear of an active 3-year old.
I would recommend this product to anyone looking for something to distract kids with on a long car ride. Since we bought it, I've compared it to others displayed at the stores, and only Sony seems to have a better picture. It blows other low-range and mid-range brand DVD players out of the water.

This is an excellent DVD player. I was skeptical at buying a Coby but so far, I have not had any problems. The 10.5 inch screen is awesome and being able to swivel in any direction makes this machine almost perfect.
The only thing I do not like is the finish of the player. Shows fingerprints and is hard to clean, but these things are minor.
I would recommend this product to anyone. |
Great value, especially for the screen size

| EXTREMELY happy with this purchase ... I'm normally a name-brand only buyer and crossed my fingers on this one after reading all the reviews for all of the other manufacturers ... each one has at least one thing that everyone wishes was better so why pay the premium price for a product that doesn't live up to the premium. I'm glad I took the gamble ... it is a beautiful player and it works with every format of disc I've thrown at it so far. Screen resolution is great for a portable and you can't get this price for a ten-inch screen from any other brand. Definitely glad I went with the 10 inch ... seems like anything smaller wouldn't do. Purchased for a 12 hour car trip we have coming up with our 19 month old daughter ... she's going to love being able to watch all of her favorite PBS shows on the road! I do wish the screen rotated 180 in both directions instead of just to the left, but I'm being picky. Got the Vogel's EMC5000 DVDock Car Headrest Mount for Portable DVD Players to go along with it since the included headrest mount doesn't fit my 2007 CR-V headrests. All in all great buy. |

| I researched for two days various portable dvd players. I held my breath and chose this one. It's perfect!!! The screen is big, the picture is crisp and clear, the volume is loud and the battery life is appropriate, I am very pleased with this purchase. It's exactly what I was looking for. |
